Trip Cost Calculator
Total = Fuel + Tolls • Per person = Total ÷ People • Nothing is stored.
Start with fuel: gallons needed = distance ÷ MPG, and fuel cost = gallons × price. Then add the trip's fixed extras — tolls and parking — to get the true total. Splitting is simple division by the number of people sharing the ride, driver included.
A 500-mile road trip at 30 MPG and $3.60 a gallon burns 16.67 gallons = $60.00 of fuel. Add $15 of tolls and parking and the trip costs $75.00 total — split between 4 people, that is $18.75 each.
Fuel-only question? Use the fuel cost calculator. Planning a commute budget instead? The cost per mile calculator adds monthly and yearly totals.
Usually yes — the common convention is an equal split including the driver, since everyone benefits from the trip. Some groups let the driver ride free as thanks; agree it upfront.
No — this tool covers the driving costs: fuel, tolls and parking. Add your own lodging and food budget on top for a full trip budget.
Tick "Double distance" — fuel and per-mile figures double, while tolls you enter are counted once, so enter the round-trip toll total if tolls apply both ways.
